Deogratias “Deo” Niyizonkiza is the founder and president of Village Health Works.  He is a leading advocate for the most impoverished people in the world and one who honors and respects the dignity of those he works to help.

Deo’s story is told in Pulitzer Prize-winner Tracy Kidder’s book, Strength in What Remainsa New York Times best seller that was named one of the best books of the year when it was published in 2009.

His appointment to the board underscores our commitment to community-driven development as our work expands throughout Sub-Saharan Africa.

Bill is a strategically-oriented executive and operationally-focused investor with a background in operations management, strategy consulting and private equity investing. Bill has travelled twice to Rwanda to teach entrepreneurship skills to youths. He and his wife support several Rwandan organizations including the Maranyundo School, Ecole St. Ignace and Bridge2Rwanda while also hosting a college freshman from Rwanda.
