Our Story

IDEA4Africa  was conceived after fifteen years of working to stimulate and catalyze young entrepreneurs in four Sub-Saharan African countries: Ghana, Rwanda, Uganda, and Tanzania.

The organization is the result of years of forging relationships and best practices for teaching, mentoring and fostering the entrepreneurial spirit.

Originally, the organization was created to fund an entrepreneurship center in Rwanda, built from the relationships established by the Babson College fellows over the years. This new International non-profit organization is not connected to any higher educational institution. The goals remain the same.

We quickly established ourselves in Rwanda and are expanding upon those efforts and relationships that were made and developed over the years. We now have an office and a full time Country Director in Uganda as well, and are running workshops and teacher trainings throughout the year. We have made huge inroads into the many large refugee camps and have started running intensive Summer Seminars there as well.

IDEA4Africa is supported by a dedicated group of people who believe that the way to increase economic development in African countries is to educate youth in social entrepreneurship to become job creators.

We are supported by the Founder’s Circle, many of whom sit on our board, a growing number of donors who have seen the impacts we’re having. We are now also supported by the Skees Family Foundation who work to find solutions to socioeconomic inequality and change the world as they say “one hour, one dollar at a time.”
